Hello from the Friends of the Cambria County Library (FOCCL), and
welcome to our web page! We are an association of local residents
dedicated to assisting the Cambria County Library through various
advocacy and fundraising efforts. Our goals include promoting a
better understanding within the community of the needs of the
Library, focusing attention upon the Library's services and
facilities, and assisting the Library financially through a variety
of projects and initiatives. We are members of
Pennsylvania Citizens for Better
Libraries, (PCBL) and of the
National Friends of Libraries USA (FOLUSA).

Membership
Memberships provide our largest source of revenue in support of the
library. We offer memberships at a variety of levels to accommodate any
budget and welcome member volunteers on our Board and/or help with
fundraisers.
If you aren’t already a member, please join us! Annual dues are
$10.00 for an individual, $20 for a family, $50 for a patron, $100.00 or
more for Benefactor membership, and $250 for a Lifetime membership. If
you sign up for a Lifetime membership, a bookplate with your name will
be added to a new book. All members
are invited to our annual Wine & Cheese Reception /Members’ Meeting held
every spring. In addition, members receive the FOL newsletter, which
will include a coupon good for one free book from the FOL bookstore.
Businesses may help support the Friends of the Library at two levels. At
the Business level of membership ($25 - $99) you will receive our
newsletter for one year and your company name will be listed in the
issue following the receipt of your membership dues. At the Corporate
level of membership ($100 and above) you will receive our newsletter for

Fundraising Activities
All monies raised benefit the Cambria County Library. Our fundraisers
have supported a number of projects and purchases. Examples include: the
renovation of the Community Room, including a new sight and sound
system; the youth summer reading programs; special equipment for the
Library’s CD and DVD collections; specialized shelving units and
cushions for the Children’s Storytime Program. We recently helped the
library raise funds for the purchase of a state-of-the-art microfilm
reader/printer.
We are excited to announce that the
FOL used bookstore is now open
for business! Located within the library and
staffed by Friends of the Library volunteers, bookstore hours are 11
a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, unless the library is closed for
a holiday. You'll find a
variety of used books (including some collectors’ items) in hardback and
paperback, magazines, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, vinyl LPs, audio books and
assorted items. All proceeds from bookstore sales will go to the Library
to help with the purchase of nonbudgeted items needed to enhance patron
services.
Donations of items in good to excellent
condition are welcome. We also need FOL volunteers to help with sorting,
shelving and selling items , and a Weekday Manager to oversee the
volunteers. If you're interested in helping, you must be a member of the
Friends of the Library. If you're not currently a member, it's easy to
join; just click on the "membership form" link above, or pick up a form
at the library or FOL bookstore.
The bookstore name will be announced in
July.
In addition to the used bookstore, the
FOL also runs a popular basket raffle in support of April’s A Little
Night Music @ the Library. Members assemble a terrific variety of
theme baskets featuring items donated from local businesses and
individuals.
Our Newsletter
To raise community awareness, we publish a periodic newsletter with
information about upcoming events and fundraising efforts, in addition
to highlighting the Library’s programs,
services, and resources. We also look at issues affecting libraries
throughout the State of
Pennsylvania
and the United States. Copies are distributed to our members and
occasionally to community groups. To read the latest edition, click

The Friends of the Cambria County
Library Board
The FOCCL Board meets six times annually,
on the second Wednesday of the following months at 9 a.m. at the
Library: January, March, May, July, September and November. Meetings
usually adjourn by 10:30 a.m. Members are welcome to attend, and we
encourage you to become involved as an Officer or Member-at-Large.
Currently we have the following Officer openings: Vice-President,
Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary. We also need a new
Membership Chair for our Board. Positions can be combined. Please
consider joining us - we need to fill our Officer positions in order to
continue our efforts in support of the Library as it copes with
decreasing financial support from the state while experiencing an
increase in patronage.
